The Gut Feeling

Yesterday I was sitting at the dinner table with my family and my elderly uncle George, eating schnitzel, peas, and noodles. Typical German food on a typical German day. It was cold and rainy. Out of nowhere, George mutters, “I’m gonna go play bingo tonight and I’m gonna crack the jackpot of 150 euros.” We thought he was joking because he never plays bingo. In fact, he hates the game. He jokes a lot anyway, so we didn’t really think much of it.

After dinner, he got in the car and drove to the bingo game, which was held in some bar in town. I took out the dog and wrote some e-mails in the meantime. After about 1.5 hours, George returned home. I was sitting in the living room talking to my mother when he walked in. My mom asked him, “And, how was bingo?” I had forgotten that he had even gone to play bingo. We both chuckled before he could answer.

Then this guy looks us right in the eye and, without saying a word, pulls out 150 euros.

“Told you I’d win,” he said. “I just had a feeling I’d win today.”

Sometimes you may feel like there’s something crazy you need to do. Don’t ignore that feeling. Your life is boring enough already, so you might as well step out of your comfort zone every once in a while and follow your gut feeling. Who knows, it might reward you with something you really need.

Wonderful! See, men are intuitive too! :-p

  2. Wish I had that kind of impulsive thinking. But on the other hand, the nearest casino is about 40 miles away from me. I’d get tired driving halfway, haha. Or maybe its just me…

  3. I am a big believer in gut feelings… but it doesn’t always work out that well… good post.
